The Big Idea

Using a large (approx 6ft high x 6 ft long) heat and motion sensitive model of the brain, visitors can gently hug it with their bodies to light up the empathy centers (heat sensitive) or punch it to light up the pain sensors, gaining a greater understanding of the effects of positive and negative emotions on our brains. The size of the exhibit invites visitors to work together to e.g. 'group hug' the brain to create even brighter light in the empathy centers, illustrating how societal stress or joy can impact on us as individuals through our mental functioning.
